Introducing… Lady & Gentleman
Hello friends. We are Jon and Necia Ornée and we are SUPER excited to be working on a new music project. Some of you may know me (Jon) as the lead singer of AG Silver - the band I played with for over 20 years. But, there’s a decent chance that if you met me in the last 10 years, you might have no idea that I’m a musician and songwriter; that my band released 4 albums and toured the country before settling down as they say, and starting a family. The truth is, even though I haven’t played a live show in over 5 years I’ve been writing music and am anxious to share it with the world (or at least, you know, you people). But I want to do it different this time around.
Difference #1: You may or may not know that I’m married to a total rockstar of a wife. Necia starred in our only music video and has sung on AG Silver albums and other albums as well, but we’ve never really created music together even though it’s been a dream of ours. It’s time to start living the dream.
Difference #2: We want to do more than just record these songs.The songs are stories and we want to tell the stories both musically and visually. If you’ve been to an AG Silver concert, you have probably seen me cry on stage at some point because my songs are meaningful to me and I love sharing the story behind the song. We want to explore how to do that through film.
Here’s where you come in. Recording songs and making films costs money. And making money by selling songs is a little tricky these days. I mean, I get an occasional royalty check from Spotify for like 18 cents, but that doesn’t go very far. So…here’s the deal. I write songs. I can’t help it. They’re in me and I have to get them out. I’m going to write music for the rest of my life whether or not I share it with anyone. But, I’m curious if there is a community out there that wants us to share the music with them. And I’m curious if they’d be willing to help us fund these projects so that we can keep creating and sharing more music.
But beyond paying for these projects, we’re also really interested in finding Our Tribe. Identifying the people who are anxious to hear our music, learn the story behind the songs, and share in the journey.
We’re starting small. Our initial goal is to raise $2,000 to cover the costs of recording 1 song and creating a short video to accompany it. It’s called Prodigal Daughter and we’re super excited about it. We have more songs that are written and ready to record, so if we surpass our initial goal, we’ll be able to start working on the next batch of songs.
If you’re willing to contribute to the project, we’ve got all kinds of fun perks for you including tickets to the premiere of our first song and video, the entire AG Silver catalog (including a few unreleased tunes), and even a house concert for you any your friends. Everyone who contributes will get to download our first song, Prodigal Daughter, and watch the video before the rest of the world. But the thing that I’m most excited about is that you’ll officially be part of Our Tribe. You’ll get to hear demos of new songs before they’re released and even help us decide which songs to record next and which songs to play at upcoming concerts. We’re super excited to hear your input and experiment with a new kind of community collaboration.
